C# .NET Application Developer

Location: Grand Rapids, MI metro area

Duration: Permanent

Hours: Full-time

 

Description:

 

The Application Developer’s role is to design, execute, ***ess, enhance and troubleshoot software programs, applications, and databases. This includes designing, configuring, coding, developing, and documenting software specifications throughout the project life cycle. The Application Developer will resolve application and database issues, ***ist in database administration support, develop and support application migration and integration projects, and provide support as required.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with analysts and other developers in the definition, development, implementation, and support of software programs, applications, and databases.
  • Research, document, and implement program requirements and specifications.
  • Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
  • Define and develop application and database enhancements.
  • Oversee the quality ***urance of program logic, data processing, and error resolution.
  • Run and monitor performance tests on new and existing software for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
  • Administer diagnostic analysis of test results and deliver solutions to critical areas.
  • Develop an awareness of programming and design alternatives.
  • Cultivate knowledge of and implement application development best practices.
  • Gather statistics and prepare and write reports on the status of the programming process for discussion with management and/or team members.
  • Determine, develop, and maintain user manuals and guidelines.
  • Install software products for end users as required.
  • Work with the company’s internal and supplier resources for prompt resolution of any software or hardware problems or emergencies.
  • Work with network administrators, analysts, developers, and others in I.T. to resolve any defects in applications, databases and systems.
  • Take an active role in cross-departmental projects as needed.
  • Write and/or delete programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or appearance of company Web sites and Web applications as necessary.
  • Participate in research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades for optimal performance of systems.
  • Interact regularly with supervisors, team members, and vendors to field queries and questions.
  • Effectively communicate project activities and status to supervisors and team members in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Provide guidance and/or instruction for other I.T. staff members around ***igned responsibilities and projects.

 

 

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, software development, computer science, or information technology
  • MCAD or MCSD certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of related work experience

 

Technical Skills:

  • Technically fluent in programming languages, including .NET, C#, and SQL.
  • Database development experience in a Microsoft SQL Server environment, ideally including DTS, SSIS, Reporting Services, and Analytic Server.
  • Experience developing corporate business applications, preferably including forecasting, sales orders, CRM, distribution and inventory control systems.
  • Understanding of IIS, Windows Mobile devices, and web development platforms.
  • Hands-on software troubleshooting experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Extensive practical knowledge in importing and manipulating data for use in migration and integration efforts.
  • Ability to create systematic and manual operations procedures in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • SharePoint experience preferred.
