A blast from the past with ASP.NET
This book is a CL***IC! Sure, it might be old, but it succeeds in getting the ideas of learning how to build Web Applications through. The MCAD/MCSD Training Kit – Developing Web Applications with Microsoft Visual Basic .NET and Microsoft Visual C# .NET is complete with lessons and lab exercises. This book is for software developers who have only been designing client based programs and are looking to start developing web applications. So, if you want to be certified for developing hardcore ASP.NET web applications? This book will help you get started!

Even though this book was written during the reign of ASP.NET v1.1, most if not all of the concepts will last through the lifetime of the ASP.NET Framework. I enjoyed the lab exercises. They were designed for each lesson and were fun to complete. Some were difficult, but that is what learning is all about. It is especially tougher, if you are not working with an older version of Visual Studio. Even though we are now working with ASP.NET v2.0 and v3.0 you still can learn how the ASP.NET Framework works under the hood. There are many Visual Basic and C# code examples.

Finally, I utilized the electronic version of this book on CD. I found it easier to navigate and easier to go through. The amount of time available for reading was increased and when it came to reviewing a lesson all you have to do is remember by pointing and clicking on a section of any chapter. From simple to advanced web forms, name spaces, ***emblies, IIS, ADO.NET, database management and security. This book shows you how to design, develop and deploy a working web application with bells and whistles.
